SENIORS

Parks & Recreation provides a variety of opportunities so that being active can be a way of life. SilverSneakers® programs have the largest level of participation and you do not have to have Silver Sneakers membership to participate in the many fitness classes, holiday lunches and frequent pot-lucks that are offered through Silver Sneakers. Classes and activities are open to all membership types.

SILVER SNEAKERS AT FALLING SPRINGS

SilverSneakers is a fitness program for seniors that’s included with many Medicare Advantage plans. SilverSneakers helps millions of people on Medicare defy the odds, shatter stereotypes and answer every challenge with, “I can do this!” Membership includes access to every participating gym and fitness center in the network. That’s a membership at more than 15,000 locations. We also offer fitness classes for all abilities led by our SilverSneakers trained instructors at gyms and other locations. So what are you waiting for?

Falling Springs Center is proud to be one of those participating gyms!  As a Silver Sneakers member, you’ll have access to all Falling Springs Center amenities (the fitness room, pools, gym & track) as well as all of our drop-in land and water fitness classes!  Among those classes are over 10 classes a week that are specifically for seniors!

OTHER SENIOR PASS OPTIONS

While Silver Sneakers is the most common pass type for Seniors in our area, if your health insurance plan does not offer Silver Sneakers as a health plan benefit, it may provide a different fitness plan option in which Falling Springs Center also participates. If you have a Medicare Advantage plan, membership to a fitness center may be included as a plan benefit. Plans vary and can range from paying a percentage of your Falling Springs Membership to providing your membership for free.

Falling Springs participates in the following plans, in addition to Silver Sneakers:

  • Silver & Fit – A product of American Specialty Health
  • ReNew Active – Affiliated with UnitedHealthcare (Formerly AARP Optum )

Go 365 by Humana does not pay for gym memberships. It is a wellness and rewards program that allows you to earn awesome rewards for healthy activities like workouts, preventive exams and more.  Falling Springs does participate in Go365!  Let us know if we can help get you set up!

PICKLEBALL

Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country, especially for seniors. Pickleball is a paddle sport (similar to a racquet sport) that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a Wiffle Ball, over a net. The sport shares features of other racquet sports, the dimensions and layout of a badminton court, and a net and rules somewhat similar to tennis, with several modifications. Pickleball was invented in the mid 1960s as a children’s backyard pastime.

This sport is super popular with seniors because of the smaller court size and pace of the ball. We have a consistent group that plays at Falling Springs Center several times a week. Pick-up Pickleball is held on Court 1 at Falling Springs Center on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays. To find more details on “pick-up” pickleball play, please check out the Versailles Pickleball Facebook page. Falling Springs members can play for free, guests can play with paid daily admission to the Center.  As of June, 2019 we have 3 permanent Pickleball courts located outside Falling Springs Center behind the outdoor pool house! The courts are first-come, first-serve and are free to use!  Bring your own paddles & balls.
