CROSS COUNTRY COURSE

The Cross Country Course located at Woodford County Park is one of the most beautiful and challenging courses you’ll find anywhere.  Spread over more than 200 acres of rolling farmland and dotted with trees, ponds, creek beds and more, this course serene course is an escape form the noise and hustle and bustle of everyday life and is great for those who just want to take a walk in nature or challenge themselves in terms of fitness.  Keep your eyes open and you may see deer, birds of all kinds, squirrels and other wildlife.

The WCHS Cross Country team calls this course home in fall and the University of Kentucky and Transylvania University have run meets here in the past as well.  Parks & Recreation’s three annual race events (the Heart & Sole Triathlon on April, Tiki Trot 10k, 5k & Fun Run in July and Kidz Triathlon on August) all utilize the course for their runs as well.

The course can be run in any number ways, making it easy for you to go a long way or just for a short walk or run.  Below are maps that are used for various events throughout the  year, but feel free to make your own route too!  The primary routes are kept mowed during the spring, summer and early fall to make it easier to stay on course.
